A List of Things

A lot of things have happened lately, which I will ennumerate in list form forthwith:

1) Ingmar Bergman died, and it made me quite sad. When I thought about it I realized that I've only seen like 2 of his films, but I guess those 2 were enough to make me a devoted fan. The Seventh Seal is obviously a fantastic movie, one which really I ought to see again. The other one I've seen is The Magic Flute, which was one of my most favorite films from International Cinema last year. I've been looking for a copy of it for ages, but the only DVDs I've found online are too expensive (10 bucks is the limit I've had to enforce on my DVD purchases, or I'll go broke too fast). Somethign miraculous though is that like the day after I found out about his death, I was at the library--the Walnut Creek downtown branch, which I almost NEVER go to--browsing the VHS collection, and they had it! So I snapped it up in disbelief, and now it's downstairs waiting for a good opportunity for viewing pelasure. It's such a good movie. It's one of those movies which makes me unaccountably happy, to a ridiculous degree. I remember when I first saw it, I just smiled all the way home...which was awkward, walking alone halfway across campus at dusk, beaming like an idiot. OH WELL.
2)Last night we all did serious yard work at Gramma's house, and I discovered my passion for pruning. Huh--that would be an awesome name for a show on the HG channel-- Passion for Pruning. It would be about some person who like goes around and prunes things and talks really excitedly about it. I would be the ideal candidate for the starring role. I started off with roses, which was pretty okay, just trimming off the dead blooms. Then I progressed to these two rose bushes which had gone pretty crazy and were sending off 6 foot shoots in all directions, so I got to shape them and cut them back severely. Then I moved on to using serious hedge trimmers on a shrub by the front door, and then I achieved PURE BEING with a branch cutter against a thorny bush of death that was gettign to be all up on the roof and lawn. Basically it was a battle of epic proportions, and I came off conquerer, aided at times by Becca, my trusty squire.
3)Only 3 more days of work at gelato place which is pretty cool. Also pretty cool is this week's Flavor of the Week, which is called something annoying in Italian which means Chocolate Death. Dude, that title is an entirely accurate representation of this gelato flavor! It is chocolate gelato with chocolate fudge swirls, with chocolate chips and chunks of chocolate cake mixed in. IT IS SO GOOD, it is insane. The girl who worked with me tonight is lactose intolerant, but she still couldn't keep herself from eating like 2 cups of it. Which is where the true-about-death part comes in, because isn't that kind of bad for her?
4)The past few weeks I've been indulging in one of my favorite of all activities, which is browsing at the library and checkign out completely random books based almost solely on cover art and jacket design, and then reading them really fast and getting more. Seriously, it is really fun. Most of the books end up being pretty stupid, but sometimes you get really awesome ones. The best one so far was called The Mount, by Carol Ermsh-something. I think the premise is almost too weird to paraphrase, like really, but just trust me that it is cool. I gave it to Becca to read, hopefully she likes it. Soemtimes I worry when I share things with people, because I realize that sometimes I like really, really weird things, and maybe they are sometimes weird to the point that other people might not enjoy them? So, lemme know how that goes, eh Shmec? Sorry if it's too much crazy.
5)Mom and I have gone swimming every day this week, almost always wiht Nieman. That is awesome and healthy! Yay for us!
6) I should go to sleep now, peace out.

It is cool, but the cover art freaks me out.
