-you learn about Old English forms of pluralizations (which survive in flukes like 'oxen' and 'mice' and 'deer') and then you learn about how "eggs" used to be "eggen" and "eyes" were "eyen" and then your teacher says those examples so many times in the course of the semester that every time you go to make a fried egg sandwich you say "Oh well gotta go get my eggen out of the fridge, teeheehee" and then you realize that YOU HAVE BECOME THE ENEMY.
