This one time when I was a freshman I said "Shoot, what's the big idea with everyone always 'hiking the Y'? Sounds like something for chumps. Therefore, I solemnly vow that I will never hike the Y."
But um today I broke my vow? You know how it goes. So, Mary and I hiked it this afternoon. I was pretty pathetic you guys. It was quite a blow to my self image. But in my defense, I did The Shred with Becca like 20 minutes prior to hitting the trail, and I consider it miraculous that I could walk at all after that. Still, I felt bad for Mary--she is way in shape and probably could have lapped me seven times if she had felt so inclined. We're going to do it frequently and hope that eventually I don't have to stop and pant every 1-3 minutes.
I tried to upload more proof but it's taking too long and I am pretty much going to die if I don't go to sleep right now.

Good for you, Katy! I would have had a hard time hiking it right after doing The Shred, too! I can't believe you still did it. Way to go! Maybe I can go with y'all sometime--it would probably help your self-esteem. When I went my freshman year, I stopped at every little marker--which is pretty much on every curve of those switchbacks.
Good for you! Hiking the Y is freakishly hard-I always blame it on the elevation-us CA girls just aren't used to the mountain air:) Glad Mary is going with you. Keep it up!
Climb every mountain....My vow was not to clim Timp ever again. That was after stopping twice at Emerald lake. I can say that so far, I haven't had a chance to break my vow!
Good job, that Y is nasty looks haunting from the dorms of BYU,or so my week expierience was
chump.
glad you gave in-- that hike can be brutal, but such a great view of the valley!
The Y is ridiculous. I did it freshman year dragging Ambien-drugged Amanda to the top. It was quite the adventure.
