Furthermore, the plot, such as it was, was pretty messy, which wouldn't be that big of a deal, except that the show was always so perfectly organized, you know? All their investigations were at least basically logical, and sorta moved from point A to point B in a well thought out fashion. Whereas, a lot of the stuff in the movie was all over the map, and I was always trying to figure out which snowy field was which and why there were FBI agents swarming all over it at any given time. And seriously, how many times are you going to decide to trust Billy Connolly and then turn around and decide he's crazy? I'll give you a limit of oh, maybe 3 flip-flops--which means the FBI overstepped the limit about 7 times.
Alright, but all that being said, it was still pretty amazing to see Mulder and Scully again. Sure, they're a bit older, and some of their characterization was a bit off from what it used to be, but all in all, I was pretty much shrieking with joy the whole time just to see them together. I loved the little things from the show that they sprinkled in to make us happy--I was praying from some sunflower seeds to show up, and I was not disappointed. Likewise, the pencils in the ceiling. I was secretly hoping they could like magically resurrect the Lone Gunmen for an appearance, but I guess I can't really hold that against them--I can't really expect them to reverse ALL the laws of science, I suppose. And the one surprise guest appearance was enough to do some excited air punches, so really, they done good.
Um, now I'ma go watch some season 6 episodes, and bask in all that is good and X-Files.
