Yikes, sorry that I'm a negligent blogger lately. I'm sure everyone has been feeling quite bereft--my deepest apologies.
Theme of today's post:  Out-of-Character Moments in the Past Couple Days

1)I went to Caitlin's Field Study research presentation thing.  I'm sure it had a real name that sounds official and intelligent, but phooey if I can remember. PS, Caitlin did a really good job!  Her research was about transmission of AIDS from mothers to their children in South Africa.  It was really interesting. It was out of character for me because as a general rule, I don't go into the Kennedy Center.  All those Poli Sci/International Relations kids make me feel edgy!  But I did my best to blend in, and it must have worked--no one threw rotten fruit at me and told me to get back to the JFSB where all you dirty humanities filth belong.  Operation: Success!

2)I went to a show at Muse!  That hasn't happened since Freshman year, when Danny was there playing drums with his band!  I was extremely reluctant to go, but Nieman really likes the band that was playing (Drew Danberry) and I decided that I'd spent enough weekend nights in my room with books.  It's not you, Newbery Honor books, it's me.  You've been great, I just need some space, some time to think.  You understand.

--speaking of Newbery  books, that is a recent goal of mine.  Not a goal so much as a thing I started doing for fun and have since decided to call a goal so that I could keep on having fun and then get to say that I'm fulfilling goals.  Anyway, I'm reading the Newbery Award books from the past 50 or so years.  I've got a stack of like 10 of them on my floor right now, patiently waiting for me to spend long weekend nights consuming them one by one.  This item doesn't get a number though, because it is all too within character for me to read a bunch of YA lit for fun.  Oh Character, you are very accommodating of my favorite fun time things to do.

Thank you for blogging!!! You can't imagine how many times I check your blog and see the same picture and weep. Good luck with your character plans! What Newberry titles should I read. With great sadness I tell you that I finished the last Maisie this morning. I need a new fix. :)

Newbery is similar to Danberry. So don't feel too bad.

Way to be adventurous. I am glad you're reading the newberry winners-I wouldn't want you to completely change overnight! Nothing wrong with a good read. Smooches.
