Guys, my Legend/Spain party was so much fun last night! I met with somewhat limited success in my churros y chocolate makign endeavors--the churros were okay, but the chocolate got kinda weird. Ashley and I struggled to make it thick enough, and I think in the end we added a bit too much corn starch, so it ended up more puddinglike. However, I don't think there is much in the world that is better than chocolate pudding, so it actually turned out quite nice. And it was so much fun hanign out with my old Spain friends! We've hardly seen each other all semester, as frequently happens I guess when you are close friends in one expereince but then change locations and situations and aren't constantly thrust into each other's lives anymore. I was worried it would be a little awkward or soemthing, but in the end it wasn't at all. And we've renewed covenants to hang out next semester (we decided finals week wouldn't be conducive to fun times) so hopefully the good times with continue.

Anyway, now it is Friday afternoon, and I am trying to be a good kid and get some take-home finals done early. And I am meeting with limited success! Right now I'm workign on Gothic lit-we have two little essays that she posted online. The weird thing is that I was pretty dang sure in class she said to make them like a page each--I could SWEAR she said that!!--but then on the thing she posted, she said to have them be 3-4 pages each! So I suppose it makes sense for them to be longer since it's a final, but she's also still in the middle of grading the 10 page papers we turned in like a week ago, so what gives? Haven't we done enough, Lorraine? I love putting her name into my faux-pleading/accusatory questions, because come on, anything addressed to "Lorraine" is just better. Trust me.

So right now I'm like a page and a half into the first paper, and I really can't summon the will to go on. Which is why I've been mostly reading and playing FreeCell and blogging for the past hour, and writing the odd sentence here and there. This is NOT the most efficient way of working, folks. But anyway. I have a reward system set up, which really is good enough that it should motivate me. I've decided that once I finish ths first paper, I get to watch half an hour of Far and Away, which I bought in a fit of profligacy at Target the other day for 5 bucks!! I watched half of it last night whilst bookbinding. I figure, half the rest after I finish this paper, and all the rest after the second one. Pretty compelling, no?
peaking of Far and Away, I was defending it to Becca last night (because she's a heathen) and the question was raised, what other movies do we ave that are epics of the American Dream? I mean, is this it? Becca countered with An American Tail, so I guess that's in the running too. But if y'all can think of others, that would be interesting. So far, Far and Away has a strong lead in the "Best Epic American Dream Film" category. And let's face it, it will probably always win in my book.

Sounds like you're all about limited success lately. I think that our Far and Away problem is proof that our feud goes on.
