Um yes, that is me. Your heroine? I felt like the narrator voice from George of the Jungle as I wrote that title, and lemme tell you it felt good. But to the purpose:
I jstu got back from Harry Potter 5!!!! It was GOOD. Um, maybe not all-caps good, in retrospect, but very close I'd say. Like, GooD or something. Reasons why I liked it:
1)They gave all the boys a haircut, so they don't look so dang lame all the time.
2)They re-worked all the things that were awkward or confusing or stupid, like most of the stuff with Cho, and a lot of stuff in the conclusion type area. Like, you remember all the weird stuff that happens in the Ministry of Magic, like with all the different rooms and everyone gets lost and all that weird crap? GONE. That whole portion was more streamlined, which made me happy.
--Something funny is that I used to be one of those people who freaked out when a movie was in any way not an exact copy of the book, and I was really lame and annoying about it probably, but now it doesn't really bug me at all. I was sad at some of the things that this movie left out, and some of the things that they messed around with, but all in all I was willing to let the movie be the movie and the book be the book, and not worry about it. Truly this marks me as a mature, self actualized individual?
(back to the list of things I liked)
3)Gary Oldman is awesome, and you get to see more proof of that in this one than in the others. I wasn't wildly fond of his actual death scene (I guess there's no point in spoiler alerts when we've all read the book, right?) but I liked all the stuff leading up to it.
--Another funny thing, and I'm interested to talk to other people about this and see their reaction, is that I felt that for the first 25 minutes or so, everyone in the movie jsut acted WEIRD. Like, wooden and tremendously awkward, and not at all like actual people. Like, maybe they had an all robot cast for a while, jsut for kicks, or because all the actors had the flu and they needed to get taping done so they moved around some cardboard cutouts and did voice overs. Seriously, everyone was behaving awkwardly and erradically enough that I had some serious doubts about the new director, like, was he doing this on purpose for his own sadistic ends or what?
But I guess, upon further reflection, it could be that it jsut took me a while to fully surrender myself to the spirit of youthful fantasy? So I was being all Cynical Katy from the Streets for a while, which made it all seem lame, and then once I finally melted into Childlike Katy with Eyes Full of Wonderment everything started to seem okay. That could definitely be the explanation.
Okay, well, that is enough for now, because my eyes are seriously bleary up in here. Which I guess is somethign that means that you are tired. What the heck does "bleary" even mean?

Can we talk some more about Gary Oldman? This guy is THE ACTOR. And wow he is so...SUPER FREAKING THE BEST AND MOST ATTRACTIVE MAN IN CINEMA. His death wasn't fantastic--I guess for HIS death I wasn't in the mood for something so anticlimactic--but the silence of Harry's screaming and Lupin holding him back was extremely well-done, I thought. Um, maybe we could talk about this more in real life so I don't have to leave a freakishly long comment. Also, I teared up in at least 3 parts. GOOD FOR YOU DAVID YATES!!!!
I'm glad you are finally blogging! Have you thought about being a newspaper movie reviewer? I would trust your opinions way more than lame Mary Polls! I loved the movie! I really like the real stark difference between good and evil and also the internal and external battle between good and evil.
