1) Okay, so I have this thing that is almost a problem, which is that I fall in love with my orchestra conductors. Well actually this is only the second one, but still. I was pretty heartbroken when I realized that my first conducting amour probably was done with his grad work, and thus would be leaving. Oh Kayson...I still pine for thee. BUT, the good news is that this semester we have 2 guys team-conducting, and one of them is from the Ukraine, and his name is Lev, and he is awesome and basically I love him. He just has a really nice style--he's quiet, but still commands attention, and he is funny in a really almost shy way. He just smiles at the right time or makes funny hand gestures to explain how he wants it to sound because he can't think of the words, and it's just really nice. So. That is reason #1
2)Though my heart longs for Josef, his BYU-appointed substitute is working out pretty nicely. His name is Leon. So far the best part about using a school instrument is that I figure so many different (aka better) musician types are using him all day, they will make sure he is always in tune, so I don't have to worry! Truly this is a relief. So yeah, Leon is a pretty good kid, I think we'll work well together.
3)At the moment, which is really quite premature, I know that I really like at least one of the songs we're doing. It's a Beethoven, the Coriolan Overture. I guess I mostly like it because it wasn't completely impossible to pull off whilst sight reading, so I got to feel at least a little bit successful tonight, the first real night of orchestra, which usually is really frustrating and depressing.
So. Them's the reasons I like orchestra. Except for actually the real number one reason I love it is because I get to hang out with Jen, since we always swing it so we're stand partners, and I get to at least walk home with Ashley, since she's percussion and I never see her during the actual practices. Anyway, orchestra is really good, and I'm glad I ended up doing it this semester, even when there were obstacles.

Yeah orchestra! I'm really glad you got to do it this year even though you forgot Josef. I promise not to tell him about Leon-he could be serious wounded.
