Something that is awkward is when I'm working at gelato place and someone comes in who I knew in elementary school or something equally vague yet familiar, and it takes them a while to make the connection, so I go through my usual "Would you like to taste any flavors?" schtick with some kid who I used to massacre in tether ball ten years ago, until I finally see the recognition in their faces, and then we have to do this weird "Oh, wow, hey" thing, and then I start feeling all awkward because I'm behind the counter. It's really strange--obviously there is no reason to be, like, ashamed to be working, it's an acknowledged fact of college-summer-time life, and dude this is America and we're all democratic here...but still, it's not the ideal place to run into some kid you knew when you were kids, you know? Like, "Oh, wow, hey Peer From My Past....would you like some fresh whip cream on that?"
Something that is lame and also dissapointign is the end of the awesome Dracula-type book I've been reading this week. Anti-climactic to the nth degree, and while it is sort of a happy, triumphant ending, the author kind of screws it up at the very very end. Like, "They all lived happily ever after...until they got in a car crash and died five years later." Luckily, Khaled Hosseini finally wrote another book (after The Kite Runner a couple years ago) , so I have a new good book to console me. Also, I will probably defy the extreme lateness of the hour and watch some old episodes of 30 Rock on nbc.com. Was life worth living before there was TV online? I honestly can't remember.

I totally know what you mean. A few months back I sold a house to someone from one of my old seminary classes. Kind of awkward. After we figured it out it was like we felt obligated to have a non-business related conversation. But without anything to talk about. Fun...
Oops, I meant to sign my name after that comment..
